My work creating music began a few years ago, quite by accident, and inspired by nature and heritage.
In recent years I've increasingly found myself working in the space between the classical and folk traditions, and I am sympathetic to both. My aim is to create music which can be accessible to those who read music, and also those who do not. In 2023 I published my first book, the 'Iveagh Songbook' (click on the picture below to purchase). This combines original music with the stories of the places which inspired them. I'm delighted that two of my compositions for harp - Lí Ban (The Mermaid of Lough Neagh) & Iveagh - have recently been selected for inclusion in the new Trinity College of Music syllabus for harp, grade 6. As well as continuing to create my own music, in November 2024 I was commissioned to compose a song for Beat Carnival's 'Our Siren Song' in May 2025. Inspired by words and sentiments gathered from the community of the Ards Peninsula by actor Stephen Beggs, 'Watching the Waves' was premiered at an outdoor extravaganza on Millisle Beach, County Down in May. 'Our Siren Song' was NI's contribution to the UK Wide Creativity and Climate Action programme, 'Beach of Dreams'.

In 2024 I was commissioned to compose music for a new work by the Armstrong Storytelling Trust, entitled 'Cloak of Wisdom'. I worked with two other storytellers to create music drawing inspiration from women's stories (both ancient and modern), and the land.
