Music
I've been playing music for longer than I can remember.
I started playing the clarinet at the age of 7, & my journey into the world of professional music-making began while studying clarinet performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Following my graduation from the RCS I appeared regularly with: the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of Scottish Opera, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Since my return to Ireland I have enjoyed a diverse freelance career performing on clarinet/bass clarinet with the RTE Concert Orchestra, Camerata Ireland, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, the Belfast Ensemble, the Orchestra of Opera Northern Ireland, and the Ulster Orchestra. I have also been lucky enough to tour widely, taking part in International Music Festivals in Mexico, France, Italy, Finland, Scotland, Poland and Portugal as well as the BBC Proms in London, England. |
Beyond classical music...
For some time now I have been exploring the use of clarinet in folk & traditional music, including working with singers & instrumentalists from other musical backgrounds. This has produced some very rewarding collaborations, most notably with the singer/songwriter & environmentalist Colum Sands. I also perform regularly on the harp in therapeutic settings, at conferences & for events of all kinds. My first book of compositions, the 'Iveagh Songbook' was published in 2023, & is now available to download! Click on the image below for more. NewsI'm delighted to have been asked to be a headline performer at the International Clarinet Association Festival 'ClarinetFest' in Dublin this Summer.
